Vintage Indian Bracelet or Anklet, Two Part Hollow, Cast, Heavy, Gujarat, 345.3 Gram,
A COLLECTORS ITEM:
This type of massive old silver ornament is disappearing in India today and are very rare and hard to come by:
This elegant and simple bracelet or anklet is heavy at 345.3 grams of high grade silver, and vintage from the 1940's approx. The round bracelet looks like it came straight out of a modern jeweller's studio.
The hollow cast bracelet is made in two parts and of high grade silver. It opens when the quarter hinged part screw is removed, allowing the part to separate from the hinge. This is quite an easy operation as detailed in the listing photos.
This bracelet is probably from Gujarat in northern India, and of a type favoured by Harijan and Koli women of the Saurashtra region, Gujarat, but also made and used in neighbouring Rajasthan.
The bracelet's plain panels have a wonderful patina consistent with its age.
The bracelet will suit a medium size wrist, but is very heavy to wear.
