Antique Rajasthani Silver Guard Bangles, Bracelets, High Grade Silver, 111.50Grams
These bracelet examples are detailed in Traditional Jewellery of India - Oppi Untracht, Page 187.
They have a lovely soft silver patina that high silver content jewellery achieves after decades of wear. There is still some gold gilding left in places. These guard bangles are usually worn in pairs with a series of bracelets or bangles placed between them.
The high level of craftsmanship to create these bangles from tiny stamped and perforated silver sheets. Each floral and star motif is individually applied. It has a row of floral units around the perimeter (a regional variant).
They are comfortable to wear. My wrist with a tape measure at 15.5cm (6 1/8") around the wrist. To place on they slip over the hand quite freely.
These are rare museum quality.
