Antique Swat Valley Cuff Bracelet, Pakistan, High Grade Silver, Pashtun,150.4 Grams
This is a very beautiful high grade silver hinged cuff bracelet from Swat Valley, Pakistan and worn by Pashtun women. The style of bracelet is also worn in Afghanistan. The bracelet dates by other similar example I have seen from the late 19th to early 20th century.
It has a lovely soft silver patina that high silver content jewellery achieves after decades of wear.
It has two rows of silverwork shot bands around the top and bottom and decorated in the middle with applied floral and shot decorations. Its closes with a sliding pin. The two closing pins on the other seam - have been replaced - one with wire and the other with wood - as seen in listing photos No. 3 and 4.
The height of the cuff bracelet is 5.5 cm (2 1/8").
This is for a smaller wrist, on my wrist with a tape measure at 15.875cm (6 1/4") around the wrist, it is a close fit, although very comfortable to wear, as detailed in the listing photos.
