Antique Indian Taviz, Prayer Box Pendant, 46cm (18″) Sterling Silver Snake Chain, 55 Grams
This is an early to mid 20th century Indian silver taviz prayer box pendant from Rajasthan, northern India.
The silver taviz amulet pendants has three decorative bales with floral units, and beautifully constructed with three rows of large silver shot balls (representing pearls) individually soldered in place and silver beading wire. There is also a wax element in the pendant.
The silver taviz has been strung on a new sterling silver snake chain with a "S" clasp for closing. The snake chain has the facility to unscrew at the end allowing to slip the smaller bales through.
As this pendant is very old it has quite a lot of pitting wear around the front base and on the backs - as detailed in the listing photos.
I have not cleaned the taviz amulet pendant - but it will polish up beautifully.
