Antique Ganesh, Pavarti Amulet Alter Plaque, High Grade Silver, Rajasthan, 8.9 Grams
An excellent c.1850's high grade silver amulet Alter Plaque of Rajasthan in northern India. The amulet is beautifully die stamped and detailed, represented by an chased silver border around the shape of a rectangle, the form symbolic of a house plan and family unity.
The subject of the amulet is the Hindu Gods Lord Ganesha, the four armed form with Axe, Rope, Blessings and Madaka (Rewards), and his mother Parvati with a trident and sword in her hands At the bottom of the amulet under Lord Ganesha is Ganapati, the rat, Lord Ganesha’s vehicle on Earth. This is an original antique worn collection piece in good condition. You will note that there is a small hole on Pavarti's nose and breast. The high grade silver has black oxidization over the plaque - but will polish up beautifully.
