Antique Indian Amulet, Bhumiya Raj Amulet Pendant with Hindi Script, Rajasthan, India, 6.2 Grams

I would just like to mention that this is a quite light in weight.

This is an antique sterling silver amulet pendant worn chiefly in western Rajasthan, India, by Hindu Rajputs, Jats and others. The amulet pendant  is in the shape of a five-sided, peaked pentagon form, which symbolizes a temple (mandir), and die-stamped with no backing silver sheet.  Hindi script has been added to the bottom of the amulet.  It has a sturdy bale. 

The subject of the amulet is Bhumiya Raj a chieftain who died in defence of his property, including villages and their inhabitants.  Trusted and feared, the deified spirits of these local heroes protect their community by nightly riding a horse around the village to dispel enemies or evil agents.   The amulet has been strung on a new black Indian traditional handmade cotton thread cord with a looped end for closing.  It has been silver tested for sterling silver.  This is an original antique worn collection piece in good condition.
