Antique Indian Amulet, Seven Mothers (Sapta Matrikas) 11.93 Grams

This is an early 20th century, solid high grade silver amulet pendant from Rajasthan, northern India of the Seven Mothers (Sapta Matrikas) and a Guardian.
A group of Hindu goddesses, Brahmani, Vaishnavi, Maheshvari, Indrani, Kaumari, Varahi, Chamunda or Narasimhi who are always depicted together. Since they are usually depicted as a heptad (group of seven) they are called Sapta Matrikas. They are described as assisting the great Shakta Devi (goddess) in her fight with demons.
The first figure at the right with a different costume being the guardian.
A sacred, powerful charm, it is believed to offer the wearer protection.
The amulet is detailed, represented by walled-in heavy silver borders around the shape of a rectangle, the form symbolic of a house plan and family unity, with four bales. The amulet uses stamped floral units to cover joins. It has been silver tested for high grade silver.
The amulet has been strung on a new black Indian traditional handmade 3 mm cotton thread cord. It has a looped end for closing.
This is an original old worn collection piece in good condition. The amulet will polish up beautifully.
