Vintage Tibetan or Nepal Cuff Bracelet, Turquoise, Silver, 34.6 Grams
This is a vintage (as hallmarked .925) Tibetan or Nepalese Silver Cuff Bracelet. Although of recent construction, most probably from around the 1950's, this particular piece has been modelled upon originals dating back centuries.
The cuff bracelet has a traditional decorative design of very finely platted silver wire bands applied to the surface rims all the way around to border the cuff and also detailed with silver shot.
The back is open so that it may be adjusted slightly to suit the size of wrist. The cuff bracelet has been shaped to fit at the wrist and is oval in shape.
The central ornament is a Tibetan hair bead with a natural blue turquoise stone with a lovely calico pattern. The pattern is the highlight however it is mostly pyrite and turquoise with a little black matrix which gives it that third color giving it the actual calico pattern. This turquoise is rated highly.
The shanks are decorated with high relief repousse from the dragon design and draws inspiration from tantric and mythical origins.
It has a lovely soft silver patina that high silver content (sterling) jewellery achieves after decades of wear. There is silver tarnish and requires a good clean.
The wrist diameter is 6 cm (2 1/2").
It has a opening of 2.5cm (1"). I have a 15 cm (6") wrist, and this bracelet fits me very well.
Height of the Tibetan Hair Bead: 5 cm (2")
Weight: 34.6 Grams (1.225 oz.)
