Antique Indian Amulet, Duo Lord Shiva Amulet
This is an 19th century or early 20th century high grade silver die-stamped amulet pendant worn by the tribal people of Rajasthan, northern India.
The amulet pendant is domed and in the shape of a round form (mandala). The circular forms repel evil spirits who dare not enter them. The amulet has a decorative bale with floral unit, and the border engraved or chased by punching the pattern.
The image is of Duo Lord Shiva seated within the shape of a five-sided, peaked pentagon form, which symbolizes a temple (mandir).
The amulet has been tested for high grade silver. It has been strung on a traditional black Indian cotton cord with a loop for closing.
