Antique Indian Amulet, Sun God Surya Symbol and Stallion, High Grade Silver,19 Grams
This is an antique, high grade silver amulet from Rajasthan, in northern India. The amulet pendant is in the shape of an arrowhead form and die-stamped with three decorative bales and floral units added. It has a silver sheet backing plate.
The subject of the amulet is the "The Sun God Surya" from which power flows to all other parts. A sacred and powerful charm. The symbol of Surya is also regarded as one of the auspicious signs of the Hindu religion. People place the sign of the Sun over main doors as they believe it would bring them good luck.
The horse represents the Sun God Surya's stallion or when Surya's wife Sanjna, overpowered by his radiance, fled as a mare to the shade of a forest and studied meditation, the Sun God came to her as a stallion.
