Vintage Indian Amulet, Gujarati Amulet Necklace, 37 Grams
This is a beautifully made most probably mid 20th century high grade silver amulet pendant necklace.
The necklace is traditionally worn by the Rabari people, an ethnic group from the Kutch region of Gujarat and is also worn in Rajasthan, northern India. It is quite heavy at 37 grams.
The amulet pendant is in the shape of an barbed arrowhead form (chagda). It has a silver border added and a decorative terminal point at the top and bottom. There are two sturdy bales with round decorative floral unit added.
There are two silver bar extensions down the back for extra support.
It has four peacocks and Sun symbols applied. The cut outs have been applied to the amulet silver sheet surface by soldering.
It has an adjustable cord length secured with a sliding bead.
