Antique Indian Necklace, Rajasthan Necklace, Indian Taviz, Prayer Box Pendants, 37 Grams approx.
This is a beautifully made most probably early 20th century high grade silver prayer box amulet pendant, with two taviz prayer box pendants and two rectangle prayer boxes on each side. There are small silver fluted melon beads between each of the taviz amulets.
The necklace is from Rajasthan, northern India.
The center amulet pendant is in the shape of an arrowhead form with a border of die stamped Lotus flowers and two peacocks at the top center. The three dimensional amulet container is sealed and most probably contains a wax element, as well with all the other components.
This form of decoration was used on special Indian amulet pendants from the 18th - 19th century and as this is such a finely made necklace with decorative patterns on both the front and back of the prayer boxes.
It has an adjustable cord length secured with a sliding bead. The cotton cord is in quite good condition - but well used - and has silver thread decoration. .
