Vintage Indian Earrings, Rabari Earrings, Silver Plated, 13.2 Grams
This is a pair of mid 20th century traditional Rajput women's earrings from Gujarat. They are called 'vedhla' (ear ornament) and are worn in the earlobe. The last listing photo is a Rajput woman wearing these earringsr 'vedhla'. Such a beaujtiful photo expressing the experience of life. This photo also shows the same wear on the earrings as the ones I am selling.
This shape is often found in traditional Rabari jewellery. The earrings are very well made, hollow and lightweight and are silver plated over copper. Some of the silver plating has worn off from wear as evident in the listing photos.
I have tried these earrings myself as the posts are thicker at 2 mm, than the modern European size earring posts. I have been wearing pierced earrings for many years - and I found that I had to gently manouver the ring through the earlobe. It was a tight fit., but they were quite comfortable to wear. The silver posts are high grade solid silver and are slightly flexible.
