Vintage Rabari Earrings, Vaghadia Rabari Vedhla Earrings,10.8 Grams (0.38oz.)
This is a pair of 1950's to 1980's traditional Vaghadia Rabari Tribe women's earrings from Gujarat. They are called 'vedhla' (ear ornament) and are worn in groups of five and six at the upper edge of the ears.
This shape is often found in traditional Rabari jewellery. The earrings are very well made, hollow cubes and lightweight and of high grade silver.
I have tried these earrings myself as the gauge of the wire that goes through the earlobe hole is thicker at (1.5 mm) than the modern European size earring posts.
*** You require larger earlobe holes for wearing***
The last listing photo is of a Vaghadyia Rabari Woman from Kuch wearing the Vedhla earrings.
