Vintage Indian Silver Ring, Makara Heads Finger Ring, US Size 10, High Grade Silver, 13.8 Grams
This is a vintage high grade silver approx. 92.5% Makara Heads finger ring traditionally worn by the men of Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh.
A makara is considered to be an aquatic mythical creature and the vehicle of the goddess Ganga, the Ganges River personified, and Varuna, the god of terrestrial waters, and its magical powers relate to the fertility of water life.
In Hindu iconography, Makara is represented as the vahana (vehicle) of Ganga, the river goddess.
The ring band is solid and the ring has an intentional split in the band at the Makara Heads. The ring is not quite a true circle and is shaped for fitting on the finger.
