Vintage Indian Taviz, Rabari Amulet, Rajasthani Amulet Box, 78 Grams
The container is designed to hold a sacred matra or prayer in the hollow compartment and has been sealed shut.
This type of amulet is from Rajasthan with beautiful detailed fine beading silver work of repeating triangles and floral units added, with silver beading wire around the edges.
It has five very sturdy vales also with floral units added.
I have not come across another piece verifying the shape - but because the top of the box rises upwards at opposite ends to tapering points meant to suggest a bull's horns, symbolic of Nandi the bull. Nandi is Shiva's primary vehicle who serves as the mount of Lord Shiva.
The amulet is of high grade silver.
