Antique Indian Bracelet, Kadla Cuff Bracelet, High Grade Silver
This heavy at 120 Grams of high grade silver, vintage 1940's approx. Indian Kadla bracelet looks like it came straight out of a modern jeweller's studio. The large, hollow cast, made in two parts, high grade silver bracelet opens when the quarter hinged part screw is removed, allowing the bracelet to swing open for ease of wearing.
This Kadla or Kadiya bracelet is made of a heavy round cast silver section, tapering to the hand beaten terminals at the front. The bracelet is probably from Gujarat in northern India, and of a type favoured by Harijan and Koli women of the Saurashtra region, Gujarat, but also made and used in neighbouring Rajasthan.
The bracelet has plain panels and a wonderful patina consistent with its age. I have cleaned the bracelet.
